DIY- Studded Denim Cutoffs…

Have you seen the super cute, studded, denim cutoff shorts everywhere?! I just love ‘em! However, the price is not so lovely. So, I thought to myself, make your own pair! Seems simple enough, right? This is my first DIY blog post…hopefully, the first of many successful DIY’s!

$105 - Nasty Gal

I was looking for specific types of jeans for my project. So, I went to Goodwill! I wanted any of the following combos: distressed, worn, high-waisted, and/or acid washed jeans. Omg, I found exactly what I was looking for! I bought 5 pairs, I figured I would use one pair as my guinea pig. I bought 2 pairs of Gap jeans, a pair of Ralph Lauren jeans (that my mom lifted…she tried them on and they looked great on her! Shrugs…), and 2 off brand jeans. ALL FOR $30!!

Here is my first attempt at studded denim cutoffs!

  • Choose your jeans. Try them on and get an idea of your desired length. I marked mine with a sharpie for a guideline when I’m cutting.
  • I wanted ripped and frayed denim detail. So, I made all the cuts and slits I wanted and the took my scissors and roughly scraped the ends. I will also wash and toss them in the dyer for rougher frayed ends.
  • Grabbed some studs and such from the craft store. Then, I just randomly glued the studs on one side of my shorts using fabric glue.

Voila! You’ve got some of the trendiest summer shorts! You can dress them up or down! I’ve seen these sold for at least $70 and we just made our own for about $12!!

Not too bad for my guinea pig! I just threw a lil something on so you can get the full affect. Excuse the bandages on my knee—scuba diving accident. :-p

Good luck, Glamz!! :-*

Glamz! I’ve got something sweet and summery just for you! Check these out! Casadei (like Cassidy) Women’s 1807 Wedge Sandal! Omg, I was just browsing through one of my fave shoe websites endless.com and I could NOT take my eyes off of them!

-Super modern, wooden, 4 inch, wedge heel…leather straps and neon piping! (This pic hardly gives the neon piping any justice.)

Before you fall head over heels in love, check the price tag…these magical, wooden wedges cost $820! Ugh! Da well, they’re lovely to look at and now you can keep you’re eye out for a more cost-friendly pair. (Unless, of course, you’re…ballllllllingggg!)

Anywho, I’ll holla, Glamz!  :-*

My Favorite Spring things!

Ohhhhhhh it’s been way too long, Glamz! My apologies!! I’ve become obsessed with a few things in my absence and I just had to share! In no particular order, here are a few of my favorite Spring things!

Crop Tops!!

Omg! Cropped tops are EVERYWHERE!!  High and low hems and cropped tops are huge trends as of late. (I LOVE it!) Unless you’re a teenie bopper or working out at the gym, there are a few rules we should follow if we’re gonna rock this look:

Belly button - Let your belly button be your guide, remember, fashion is all about proportions. (Search my archived posts #bodytypes) The look you want to capture is similar to a high-waisted silhouette. In most cases, your bottom garment should fall around belly button level. In other cases, your top will fall around belly button level. Your top or bottom should fall within an inch or so of your belly button. Keep it tight! Now, for those of us who don’t  have rock solid 6-pack abs, we can still get those bellies flat! I’m just saying ladies, if you should NOT be wearing a crop top, DON’T wear a crop top! Every trend doesn’t fit every body, you can achieve a similar silhouette in a different way.

How old are you? Is this trend age appropriate? It’s safe to say, my more “mature” Glamz can skip this trend.  And once again, we can achieve a similar silhouette in a different way.

Less is more. This is a sexy little trend because the navel gets some love. Don’t feel like you have to show your entire bare midriff, as a matter of fact, DON’T! A little peek-a-boo belly button is just as sexy and super cute! I’m loving this trend!

You’ll notice in the pic on the left, my skirt falls right at my belly button and the pic on the right, my top is at belly button level.

Floral Print!

Print, in general, is super popular but I’m particularly obsessed with floral print! I’ve been rocking the print on my feet.  I picked up some floral oxfords and floral tennis shoes and, omg, the possiblities are endless!! Have fun with this one! The ones on the bottom are from Target, y’all! $12.99, who says you can’t be stylish on a budget?! Whoop!

Cotton Candy Lips!

Yall know I LOVE color!! If you haven’t noticed, bold, vibrant, neon, bright colors are all around us! I’ve been having a blast experimenting with color on my lips.  If you’re going to wear a bold, bright lip color, make sure your eye make up is neutral/natural or (according to your skin tone) and vice versa.  Um…I don’t know why my lips perk up like that…I’m ratchetttt!

Just a few of my spring faves! Holla back, Glamz!
